Fifty-two year-old Tedane Anthony Kerr was arrested at his home in Asbury Park Tuesday .Immigration authorities in the United States say they have arrested a reggae singer in New Jersey for being in the country illegally. According to officialsy the singer also goes by the name Anthony Butler and performs under the name Teddy Brown.

The singer's website says he released a disc on the Fugitive Entertainment record label and has performed in New York, in Philadelphia and at the Jersey Shore. Customs officials say Mr. Kerr entered the U.S.in 1977 from Jamaica as a lawful permanent resident but was ordered removed the same year after a conviction for aggravated assault.

An immigration judge will decide whether he will be deported.
