While in High School, Assassin and his class mates used lunch time to create riddims to which he added clever lyrics, so called lyrically 'assassinating' his opponents, earning the title Assassin. He earned the attention of Dancehall veteran Sparagga Benz, and became Spragga's protégé where he went on to impress and earn the respect of the wider Dancehall fraternity, eventually starting his own label Boardhouse productions.
