World champion Yohan Blake and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce were in winning form in the 100-metre dash at the Adidas Grand Prix in New York today. 

Blake clocked 9.90 seconds to win the men's event but he had to dig deep to get the better of Trinidadian Keston Bledman, who clocked 9.93.

Meanwhile in the women's event, Fraser-Pryce clocked a season-best 10.92 to beat a quality field in the women’s 100 metres. 

In the men’s 200 metre, Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade clocked a season’s best 19.94 but had to settle for second in a close finish with Churandy Martina of The Netherlands. Martina was also credited with the same time, which is a national record in The Netherlands. 

In the women’s 400-metre race, Jamaica’s Novlene Williams-Mills had to settle for second in 50.10. yohanblakeEarlier, Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica clocked 54.91 for second place in the women’s 400-metre hurdles. American T’Erea Brown won the event in a meet record 54.85.
