This sound system shit is getting far too easy! Too many short cuts are being taken in today's quest for international fame!  Just when I thought lap tops and other technology has contributed to the peak of laziness among selectors... Guess what!  It goes further than that!    FAKE TOURING IS THE NEW WAVE!

FAKE TOURING has now become a common practice among many of today's sound systems/selectors yearning popularity.  It is an underground networking system which is allowing sounds to put in very little work, yet still score international bookings.  It's a system where sounds from different countries swap dates with each other.  For instance, a sound making very little noise in NY pops up over night and scores a tour in Europe, or a sound that has absolutely no popularity in Japan suddenly secures a North American tour all because of a barter system amongst sounds in different jurisdiction.  WTF!  It's a bringing me to your hometown and in return I'll bring you to mine campaign; merely a way to make it look like a sound 'a gwaan wid things, when nutten nah really gwaan'. What happen to creating a buzz in your home town, leaking audio of your local performances and promoting yourself? Too much work ha!?  Back in the golden days of the sound system industry selectors and sound owners had to work for their tour.  They were booked for international performances based on their demand.  No sound system at that time became popular using a sound system partner network.

The participants of this fake touring system define their actions as networking and it's their way to promote themselves and gain exposure.  But what are they really achieving?  These tours, unless inclusive of popular year to year event tend to suffer from low patronage.  Some of these sounds are playing for empty rooms.. just to say they took a plane ride! Fake Touring is just another practice that is hurting the modern day industry and contributes to young sounds not being able to grab international fame!  It's premature birth!  Sounds are not ready but still putting them self to the test! Buss the REAL WAY!  Put in the work and create the demand!  That way a name and hype will be built around your appearance.
