floodSo, here is a topic that may not go over too well with some, but truly needs to be addressed! Is sound clashing really back in the limelight, or are clash fans being hoodwinked by promoters and those who linger on social networks? Over the past year, Brooklyn, New York has played host to an overwhelming amount of sound clash competitions. However, despite the hype and entertainment value granted by these clash events, most failed to attract strong patronage. Most crowds ranged from an average of 250 - 600 patrons, regardless of having good line ups. The only event one can place outside this category is LP vs King Addies! Not only was it a great clash, but it broke the ongoing cycle of disappointing sound clash attendance. Nevertheless, it failed to meet the venues capacity of 800 - 900 patrons (give or take). In days of old... clashes either broke or came very close to the 1000 patrons mark without much effort.

So, why the drop in numbers you should ask? Market flooding, Market flooding and more Market flooding!!! Toooooo much clashes being held in one area. In this case, the area is Brooklyn! Every time one turns around, another clash event is on the way! In some cases, fliers are out for 3 clashes at the same time! It's a market flood! And as you know "A market flood" spoils things for merchants. Too much of one product in the market place means less sales. Less sales mean less income.Flooding the market in New York (one often considered to be the leader of the international clash arena) sends a wrong message to the other sectors of our global arena; a message saying...no one cares about sound clash because most of the clashes in New York get less than 500 people!

As of late, I see a particular group of hypocrites glorifying the flood of the sound clash market in Brooklyn, New York like as if it's a good thing! Wake up dudes! This is the wrong approach! It's Jamaicans would call 'force riping' (a premature hype)! We all want the industry to regain it's hype and see our sound clash heroes back in action, but market flooding will eventually hurt everyone who loves the sport! Although there are some promoters who feel that they are rebuilding the industry, the fact is that they are damaging the arena is a huge way! As one can see, half the people talking don't attend sound clashes. Many are being tricked into believing these events are working, but they are not. The promoters are losing badly and lying to save face. In the long run, I promise you, we will see the effects of such stupidity.

Before some of you narrow minded ass wipes start rumoring that I am fighting other promoters because I want Irish and Chin to reign supreme, let me say this -- Irish and Chin can't keep every clash. We can not save the sport by ourselves. We need help from other promoters. Therefore, we love the fact that other promoters are willing to invest in the sport. However, we not willing to just sit aside and not speak when fuckery is occurring!
