This August will be a year since Irish and Chin started the Sound Chat radio show. I thank everyone for making this program a huge success. I remain grateful for the many call ins and exchange of opinions and ideas. Honestly, at times, even the arguments sparked from our weekly topics add humor to the program. Never-the-less, I strive to make the weekly shows more informative and entertaining. I would also like to debate more controversal and important topics. With that being said, I have decided to return to the field and patrol the street again in search of information. I want to discuss Reggae and Dancehall's rich history with more of the industry's great contributers.
For quite awhile now, European clash fans have excused me of being biased torward highlighting the efforts of the sounds, selector, and producers in their geographic region. It's often been said that we, Irish and Chin, act like the sound arena is only centered on Jamaica and the United States. This of course is not true on our behalf. What is true though, is that our schedules have not allowed us a lot of flexibility until NOW! So, I am please to announce that our first STOP will be ENGLAND!
At the end of June 2012, Irish and Chin will visit England and some other European countries with our camera crew. The intent is to capture all that Europe has to offer. The reach will range from veteran producers, sounds system, selectors and artists to Europe's new generation of Dancehall's movers and shakers. Everyone has a story to tell is the motto.
This trip will be ALL about capturing the contributions of some of the greats. I'm aiming to chat with Saxson and Coxsone, among others. Maybe I will get lucky enough to vist David Rodigan's library of music! I'm very excited about this trip!
Now please be advised that I don't know everyone who has played a contribution on that side of the world. So, those of you who know any important players in Europe, feel free to let me know who they are! Already, my office has managed to find some great veteran artists to interview. I will keep you posted!
