When speaking of Jamaica's historical sound clash culture, Brooklyn NY is American's only sacred land. It is where some of the industry big competition were held and the home of very rich sound clash history. Over the years the location has been governed by a small hand full of sounds, including those who've proved worthy of it's throne. It's a job that sounds simple, but far from that! Brooklyn's throne holder has and will always be under constant attack from those who want the crown.
Although Brooklyn's arena is not as vibrant as it use to be, the importance of being the top sound in that neck of the woods will never change. In modern times the fight for first place still continues. With new sounds making their mark in the territory, the question becomes who rules the area now ? And if the answer is NO ONE! then what does it take to claim the rights to the throne.?
Recently, Soul Supreme defeated Brooklyn's King Addies and shocked the world. The victory proved that Soul Supreme is a force to reckon with, and sent fear throughout the industry. Later Soul Supreme went on to beat UK's Lov Injection to further state their claim as one of todays top sounds. Does this mean that Soul Supreme is now the overseer of the sacred land of Brooklyn? Or do they have more to prove? One cannot mention the ranks of Soul Supreme without also comparing their overall status to that of LP International, King Addies, and Earth Ruler, sound which have also earned dominant names in Brooklyn's competitive territory.
It's all about food for thought, usually the baddest sound in Brooklyn is hailed as the baddest sound in America. In today's culture who is worthy of such title? History has shown that Brooklyn's thrown has never been unoccupied, however its getting harder and harder to identify its overseer.
Does Brooklyn have a king!!!! Who is it ? Or who will it be?
